Moving can be a stressful event. With so much to remember, use these tips to ensure you have all the bases covered.
Submit a change of address form at the post office.

Cancel the electricity, gas, water, phone, television, and internet.
You’d hate to pay for someone’s long distance calls!
Ensure the utility companies know when to start service in your new home.
Some take several days to be turned on.
Otherwise, you may be unpacking in the dark!
Have your medical and school records transferred to your new city.
Refill your prescriptions so you have enough to make it through the move and ask for
them to be transferred to your new pharmacy.
Make sure you have not left anything in a safety deposit box, a gym locker, or at the dry cleaner.
Cancel your gym membership and newspaper subscriptions.
Request that your magazines be forwarded to your new address.
Let them know you have moved!
Make sure to call your bank, employer, insurance companies, and cell phone provider.
Keep a notebook with all of your moving expenses.
Save all the receipts as many moving expenses are tax deductible.
Make sure you have enough boxes, labeling pens, packing material, and tape.
